Peristaltic Pumps

peri-pump

Peristaltic pumps are simplistic with a variety of advantages. A tubular element (hose), with accurate dimensions, manufactured in a variety of elastomers or thermoplastic compounds, is housed within a pump body. When this tubular element is compressed by the rotary action of the rotor and its corresponding rollers or shoes, it recovers to its initial form, creating a vacuum. This subsequently “sucks” the fluid into this cavity formed by the sudden expansion of the tube. The tubular element is compressed by the rollers and the fluid transported smoothly towards the outlet. Thus, the peristaltic pumps fall under the category of positive displacement pumps.
